Bearenstein: 2009 robot

On November 7, 2009, Bear Metal visited the Pacific Mountain Region Industry & Innovation Expo being held that weekend on the Olympic Peninsula in the town of Shelton. The purpose of the expo was to bring manufacturers, construction companies, suppliers, etc. together to share information and ideas, and to help our state to be competitive.

The show was filled with tons of creative things from make-shift countertops to infrared photos.

This was an opportunity for FIRST to present itself to the public, and we were joined at the show by representatives from FIRST, and by our colleagues on the XBOT team. We were assigned blocks of time in which we demonstrated our robot and described our team efforts and what it’s like to be involved on a FIRST robotics team.

After the demonstrations, the representatives from FIRST explained in depth the way the organization works, and told a few personal victory stories which the audience, without doubt, found inspirational.

The whole experience was a blast. FIRST got a lot of respect, and our team had a wonderful time.
