FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TAHOMA ROBOTICS CLUB TO COMPETE AT KEY ARENA IN SEATTLE
March 24, 2010
Tahoma Robotics Club, team 2046 in the FIRST Robotics Competition, travels to Seattle tomorrow to take part in the Microsoft Seattle Regional 2010 competition. This event will be at Key Arena on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. A highlight for visitors will be the opportunity to tour the "pit" where robots are worked on between matches. The event is free and open to the public. Children are encouraged to attend.
The team (which goes by the name Bear Metal) will join teams from around the Pacific Northwest and beyond in fielding robots which can control and propel soccer balls around the arena, scoring points by placing the balls in goals at each corner of the arena. Bear Metal's robot, "Odyssey", is designed to climb easily over obstacles on the field, and to kick the ball the length of the field when necessary.
Thursday is a practice day for teams, and practice matches will take place throughout the day.
While in the pit, visitors will need to wear eye protection (available for loan), and closed-toed shoes will be required. Baby strollers are not allowed in the pit.
